Laser Raman Spectroscopic StudiesBack to Mineral Characterisation Studies

Raman spectroscopy is a useful technique for the identification of a wide range of substances - solids, liquids, and gases.
It is a straightforward, non-destructive technique requiring no sample preparation.


  • Characterization of different fluid species entrapped within minerals/rocks for petro-genesis of ores.
  • Identification of shock induced polymorphs (Ringwoodite, Maskelynite) rare mineral phases (e.g. Merillite,Troilite, Fassite, Diamond) within meteorite
  • Utilized in non-destructive identification of gemstones, originality and purity of gemstone/pearl can also be verified
  • Widely used to identify the inclusions within precious stones, which has immense significance in understanding the genesis of the concerned gem minerals.
