India along with four co-host countries of the South Asian region won the bid to host the 36th Session of IGC in India in the year 2020 during 34th International Geological Congress at Brisbane, Australia in August 2012.
The 36th IGC is funded by Government of India under the aegis of Ministry of Mines (MoM) and Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES). Geological Survey of India (GSI) is the nodal agency for organizing this conference with active support of Indian National Science Academy (INSA) and science academies of co-host countries, viz., Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
The 36th IGC is proposed to be held from 2nd - 8th March 2020 at the India Expo Centre & Mart, in the National Capital Region, Delhi. The theme of the 36th IGC is " Geosciences: The Basic Science for Sustainable Future". Details are available in
